Banks that do not use ChexSystems
The economy has not been in tip top shape, and some banks are trying to make more money by charging customers for checking accounts. On top of that, they are doing credit checking and Chex Systems report checks before they open accounts for new customers. The banks are trying to reduce the amount of risk for new bank accounts, and they are trying to earn more money by charging for their accounts. Banks that do not use chexsystems might not look up a chexsystems report, but there is a high chance that they will be checking your credit report. Chexsystems does not affect your credit, and the reason is because they are not linked with the regular credit reporting agencies. This is great news because you will still be able to get a new checking account or any other kind of bank account if you find the banks that do not use chexystems.
Checking Accounts & Savings Accounts
So these are the two main accounts that people try to open. Banks would rather open a savings account instead of a checking account for someone who is on Chex Systems. That does not mean that they will open a savings account for you. Chase is one bank that does use chexsystems, so do not count on getting an account there. Although it is not set in stone, there has been rumors of a new system for checking the banking history for people.
I have heard that a lot of banks that do not use chexystems are mostly credit unions. The reason could be because they are smaller organizations, and they operate differently than the traditional big banks.
